Karen Koltermann: „Allegory I“

The Berlin-based artist Karen Koltermann shows the large-format photograph of an intimidating-looking shipwreck at the Neuköllner Schiffahrtskanal. Together with 31 other wrecks, the “Allegory I” lies in Eleusis, the Capital of Culture 2023. In her work, Karen Koltermann traces the stories of the ships of this “illegal ship graveyard” in Eleusis. Where do these ships come from, where were they underway, and who is now taking care of these shipwrecks that are classified as “dangerous”, lying quietly in the harbor and no longer being moved?
