Thomas Bruns: Maria am Ostbahnhof

In his photographs, Thomas Bruns focuses on the changes that have taken place in Berlin since the new millennium. The focus is on prominent architecture of East Berlin and its disappearance, the wastelands of the city and its continuous sealing in the Berlin of the post-reunification period. In addition, he photographs architectural icons of West Berlin, documents their demolition and “only” hints at the new. The special feature of Thomas Bruns’ pictures lies in the depiction of the unfinished, the imperfect, the ephemeral, which is not faded out, but is an essential moment of his photography.
